Start Here

GLE is the Guitar Learning Environment. It gives you an interactive place to explore chords, notes, patterns and fretboard relationships while learning with the LLGS methodology.

New to GLE? Start simple. Load an open chord such as C Major, look at the fingering, listen to it, and get comfortable with the reference and active boards before adding more speed or patterns.

Why LLGS Chords?

LLGS looks for more streamlined ways to organize guitar shapes. The goal is to keep the important musical sound and function while reducing unnecessary movement, awkward stretches and avoidable strain.

  • More streamlined shapes: fewer unnecessary movements and a clearer physical layout.
  • More comfort: shapes are chosen with practical hand position and reach in mind.
  • Less unnecessary strain: simpler fingering is preferred when it can do the same musical job.
  • Clearer relationships: roots and moveable shapes are easier to recognize across the fretboard.

The Two Fretboards

Top board: reference board. Keep a useful chord, note layout or shape visible.

Bottom board: active lesson/playback board. Patterns and interactive lesson activity belong here.

Fretboard orientation: GLE displays the 6th string at the top. This gives you a mirror-image experience, making the on-screen fretboard easier to relate to the guitar as you are holding and looking at it.

Simple Beginner Route

  1. Open GLE.
  2. Load C Major Open.
  3. Study the fingering before trying to play it.
  4. Listen to the chord.
  5. Try D Major or G Major next.
  6. Once the shape feels familiar, try an available rhythm pattern.

Using the Help Avatar

The GLE help avatar is there whenever you are unsure what a control does. When GLE first opens, the avatar flashes briefly so you know where to find it.

  • Tap the avatar to open the help panel.
  • Drag the avatar so its finger points at a control, then let go. GLE will explain that control.
  • Use Start Tour for a guided walk through the main GLE controls.

You do not need to memorize the interface. If you forget what something does, use the avatar and keep playing.

Views

  • Finger: where your fingers go.
  • Note: note names inside the chord.
  • Interval: each note's function relative to the root.

Patterns, Boogies and Pick Through

  • Patterns: rhythm and strumming examples.
  • Boogie: walking electric-guitar patterns.
  • Pick Through: note-by-note picking examples.

Ghost Notes

Ghost notes show the notes from the other patterns of the same scale. Turn them on to see how the scale continues beyond the pattern you are currently viewing and how all of its patterns connect across the fretboard.

They are not extra notes or a different scale. They are part of the same scale, shown more lightly so you can see the bigger fretboard picture without losing focus on your current pattern.

Speed

Use the speed controls to make an example easier to follow or closer to the tempo you want.

If GLE Stops Responding

Occasionally, if GLE is in the middle of a lesson or playback and you change something such as speed, the lesson can appear to freeze or stop responding.

If that happens, simply press the STOP / REFRESH button.

GLE should reset and you can continue.

Keep It Simple

Pick one chord, one relationship or one pattern and work with that until it makes sense. LLGS is built around clarity first. More complexity can come later.
